We have been managing three of our own vacation rental properties in the Shuswap since 2006.  Since then, it has been our passion to make our guest experience positive and memorable, through great customer service and communication, proactive property maintenance and high standards of cleanliness.  Not only do these practices enhance the guest experience, it results in repeat guests, generates referrals and maintains and protects your asset, while you earn income on your vacation property. 

We have enjoyed the first 10 years engaged in the business of vacation rentals so much, in 2016 we decided to pack up our home in Calgary, quit our day jobs and move to the Shuswap to launch The Guest Book Vacation Rentals and help others manage their properties.  Danielle D'Amour, your friendly neighborhood property manager, completed the Rental Property Management Licensing Course at the Sauder School of Business in 2016.  This course is administered on behalf of the Real Estate Council of British Columbia for those who wish to become licensed property managers in the province of British Columbia.  Additionally, Danielle has 14 years background in Financial Accounting and Project Management in the Oil and Gas & Construction sectors.

  • Property assessment and inspection to qualify your home for our rental program
  • Property Listings on our Property Management and Reservation Software
  • Additional listings on VRBO, OwnerDirect, Canada Stays and AirBnB to maximize exposure and bookings.
  • Strategic marketing and sales activities
  • Concierge Services - Provide Entertainment Packages to enhance Guest experience, such as golf packages, ski passes, wine tours, equipment rentals and maintain a local area guide. 
  • Year round short term vacation rental program and guests services department.
  • Setting rental rates (nightly, weekly) that are calibrated with the region's competitive marketplace.
  • Property maintenance and established relationships with professional trades people.
  • Standardized housekeeping services and semi-annual deep cleans
  • Providing Eco-Friendly cleaning products, laundry and dish soap.  We have your family and the environment in mind!
  • Accounting services that include, but are not limited to, monthly and year end rental revenue statements and GST data.
  • Issuing owner payments on a monthly basis paid 15 days after month end which is net rental income less expenses and management fees.
  • Annual operating budgets and long term capital budgets for home improvements.
 
OWNER REQUIREMENTS
We understand the importance of selecting the right property manager to manage your home.  We feel the same way about selecting the rental properties that the Guest Book would like to represent, as we wish to maintain a certain standard of quality that we provide to our guests.  To partner with the Guest Book Vacation Rentals, we require the following from our owners:
 
  • Well maintained property: carpet, paint and furnishings must be kept in good condition
  • Quality furnishings and appliances
  • Utilities paid and operating; heat, cable & internet
  • Owners maintain an contingency fund for unexpected expenses (Optional:  We can discuss options to retain 5% of rental income to help you create a contingency fund in our Trust Accounting Management for unexpected expenses)
  • Satisfactory liability Insurance
  • Open communication with The Guest Book regarding owner bookings and/or owner guest bookings to avoid double bookings.
  • Maintain inventory requirements such as dishes, cutlery, towels, etc.
Should these rental requirements not be met upon initial property assessment, we can propose a budget to get your property rental ready if requested.
